Two of owner Merlin Entertainments most contemporary global attractions, the gruesome Tower Dungeon and the 4D Cinema, formed the basis of a major 10 month, multi million pound restoration programme for the iconic 118 year old 154 metre high Blackpool Tower.

The Dungeon's scary sets depict dark chapters from 1000 years of gruesome Lancashire history, which required the removal of the basement aquarium to facilitate an exciting 'Drop Ride To Doom.'  As part of a half million pound sub contract to Tyson Construction, F. Brown plc's operatives installed all the partitions and ceilings within the three floors of The Dungeon attraction, in addition to creating office space for Merlin Entertainments staff plus forming restroom and toilet areas for the actors participating in the inter-active attraction.

The 4D Cinema takes visitors down memory lane to see the construction of the Tower through the eyes of a young boy, with the film brought to life with sensory effects including sea spray and the aroma of donkeys.

F. Brown plc had to undertake intricate partition work to enable the cinema to be built under the impressive steel arches of the Tower, which have been exposed for the first time in its history.  Additionally, F. Brown plc formed kitchen and restaurant areas and retail units for gifts and souvenirs, installing the ceilings in these too.
